housekeeping: Best of 2007 track-list, linkage

Figured I might as well throw this up here. Before I got a new computer, my old one's burner wasn't working, so this doesn't really exist except as a .zip file a few friends got. Notes as the whim strikes me.

Disk 1:
1. "Swim Team" Baby Teeth (The Simp)
2. "Silently" Blonde Redhead (23)
3. "D.A.N.C.E." Justice (Cross)
4. "Octet" Deerhunter (Cryptograms - only good song, really)
5. "Cult Status" 1990s (Cookies)
6. "Restorative Beer" The Fiery Furnaces (Widow City)
7. "My Eyes" Travis (The Boy With No Name — same deal as Deerhunter)
8. "Scythian Empire" Andrew Bird (Armchair Apocrypha — maybe my song of the year)
9. "Sucking Punch" Fujiya & Miyagi (Transparent Things)
10. "C.O.L.O.U.R.S" Bentley ft. Pimp C and Lil' Wayne (Can't Tell Me Nothing: The Official Mixtape, but will presumably resurface on Bentley's debut, whenever the hell that finally surfaces; fingers crossed)
11. "Northern Whale" The Good, The Bad & The Queen (The Good, The Bad & The Queen)
12. "Down In The Valley" The Broken West (I Can't Go On, I'll Go On; their new album is a real bummer)
13. "Photograph" Air (Pocket Symphony - God, that album really didn't go anywhere, did it?)
14. "Say It To My Face" Young Buck ft. Bun B, 8 Ball and MJG (Buck The World; credit or execration for this song's presence goes to my G-Unit loving pal Eugene)
15. "The Underdog" Spoon (Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga)
16. "Muscle 'n Flo" Menomena (Friend And Foe)

Disk 2:
1. "Take Tha Hood Back" UGK ft. Slim Thug, Vicious and Middle Fingaz (Underground Kingz)
2. "Reunion" Jason Collett [tagged as Stars b/c it's a cover] (Do You Trust Your Friends?)
3. "Sarah T." The Comas (Spells)
4. "Turn On Me" The Shins (Wincing The Night Away)
5. "Hands In The Snow" Saturday Looks Good To Me (Fill Up The Room; awesome live show, btw)
6. "Nude" Radiohead (In Rainbows)
7. "The Temptation of Adam" Josh Ritter (The Historical Conquests Of Josh Ritter)
8. "Brunettes Against Bubblegum Youth" The Brunettes (Structure And Cosmetics)
9. "Help Is Coming" T.I. (T.I. Vs. T.I.P.)
10. "Ddiamondd" Battles (Mirrored)
11. "You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told)" The White Stripes (Icky Thump; the fact that this is a freakin' CAREER BAND continues to amaze me)
12. "Hate It Here" Wilco (Sky Blue Sky)
13. "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" David Byrne (Live From Austin, TX)
14. "Sunday Sounds" The Apples In Stereo (New Magnetic Wonder)
15. "Here Comes The Heartbreak" Emma Pollock (Watch The Fireworks)
16. "Bittersweet Poetry" Kanye West ft. John Mayer (Graduation; bonus track > whole album)
17. "Do I Disappoint You" Rufus Wainwright (Release The Stars)

Disk 3:
1. "Intervention" Arcade Fire (Neon Bible)
2. "Roc Boys (And The Winner Is...)" Jay-Z (American Gangster)
3. "Totems On The Timeline" Klaxons (Myths Of The Near Future; this track is basically indistinguishable from the rest of the album; better in the mix)
4. "Hands In The Dark" Chromatics (After Dark compilation; still haven't listened to the rest of it)
5. "Take It To The Top" Prodigy (Return Of The Mac)
6. "Rain" Bishop Allen (The Broken String)
7. "The New Science" Ola Podrida (Ola Podrida)
8. "Job Song" Consequence (Don't Quit Your Day Job!)
9. "Heimdalsgate Like A Promethean Curse" Of Montreal (Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?)
10. "Dashboard" Modest Mouse (We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank; never heard the rest of this)
11. "This Time" Jason Falkner (I'm OK, You're OK)
12. "Prospectors Arrive" Jonny Greenwood (There Will Be Blood sdtrk.)
13. "Blood Red Blood" Voxtrot (Voxtrot)
14. "Upgrade" Lil' Wayne (Da Drought 3; in retrospect, clearly should've used "Ride 4 My Niggas" instead)
15. "Clever Girls Like Clever Boys Much More Than Clever Boys Like
Clever Girls" Pelle Carlberg (In A Nutshell)
16. "Fake Empire" The National (Boxer)
17. "New Routine" Fountains of Wayne (Traffic & Weather)

Two I forgot: Band of Horses, Los Campesinos! Dammit.

AV Club stuff: Jim White, Old 97's, The Kooks, Firewater, Aimee Mann, The Futureheads, Eef Barzelay, Tilly And The Wall, Sunny Day Sets Fire, Dr. Dog, The Notwist, Dan Friel, The Airborne Toxic Event (freakishly contentious comments thread), The Silent Years, The Dandy Warhols.

Vadim Rizov's review of Godfrey Cheshire's documentary, "Moving Midway," is far and away the most perceptive I've read to date. Of course, it helps that he gets me right.
